- This opening menu tells you the current game version, recent rule changes, where the FAQ is available and how to join the game's talk group.
- If this is your first time playing Stellar Crisis, just type in the name of the empire under which you would like to play and a password for your empire.
- A new screen will appear, where you will be asked to confirm your password. Optional is listing your name and e-mail address.
- You can either cancel your new empire, with the cancel option, or select an alien icon to represent your people. Currently there are over 80 aliens available at Vanaheim and Lysator.
The alien icon you choose doesn't affect anything in the game. Choose an image you don't mind seeing over and over again. Better yet, choose an image that other empires will remember ever more after coming in contact with you.
You can go back from the game menu and edit your empire later, changing your icon or writing a short message.
- After you arrive at the desired login menu, you may either view the game list, edit your empires profile, use the Stat Viewer, or login to a game.
A new feature shows games in which you currently are playing at the top followed by a listing of current games available to play.
- To login to a game, simply click on the login option for that game.
- If you enter at the start of a game, you start with the initial tech given a player. If you enter at later updates, your starting tech will be determined by maximum tech advancement given on an update added to the previous high tech in the game.
For example, if the maximum tech advancement in a game is 1.00 and the start is 1.00, then at the start of the game you will be 1.00. If some one joins and does not build, hence getting maximum tech advancement, then if you enter on the first update, you will start with tech of 2.00. But if people are building and fighting, then your starting tech will be less.
