SC December 1996 Updates

  • 12-29: David Hedbor, Lysator administrator, has left sc-talk (too chatty) but can be contacted via sc-admin.

  • 12-28: Jurgen continues seeking votes, until the end of the year, for the best player.

  • 12-27: Aleksandr Sidorenko created the banner shown near the top of the page to help spread the word about Stellar Crisis. Every two visits to this page will allow the banner to be displayed on another page. THANKS very much Aleks for such swift delivery!!! Let him/me know what you think.

  • Ronald Kinion is seeking new player icons. He created most of the icons currently available on SC servers. Give him an e-mail jingle if you have an idea or an icon you want to include in his next batch, expected around the beginning of the year.

  • I received e-mail from someone putting together a SC server. It may be up this weekend. Stay tuned! Iwill post as soon as it's up and running.

  • Santa Claus flies! Maybe everyone didn't see it, so I posted Santa to his own page.

  • Added Link Exchange to top of page. For very two visits or hits, a Stellar Crisis Banner will be placed on a members page. There's suppose to be bonuses, too, but I haven't learned them all, yet.

  • 12-26: Aleks Sidorenko agreed to take over SC Tournament and Clan Wars from Chris John, who reduced his page and SC activities.
Chris will remain head of Clan Kaa and play long-terms, but he's not allowed by his parents to play blitzes. He needs to spend time on school work.
Aleks posted the Clan Wars page today!

  • Chris John handed over duties of administrator of Vividnet to Big B. BigB's first duty, he said, will be to look at games offered. He plans to offer a Lazy Grudge game. He's posted a beginner's page, too.

  • 12-24: Happy Christmas Eve! I've downloaded a special treat. Part of the SC lore is knowing that Stellar Crisis once was part of a bank promo! Click here for the full-size picture. (SC is at the left).

    I'm sorry guys but I can no longer maintain the tournament and clan wars pages... I will try and finish my dailies but I don't know if I'll even be able to do that. SC Central will be shrinking drastically to one or two pages... );
Anyone interested in maintaining either please mail me. BigB, I know you had your eye on admin. on Lysator, how would you like to take on Vividnet instead? If your interested I'll mail you the login info to get to the administration...
Clan Kaa may have to find a new leader... I don't think I'll be able to play much anymore.

    On Dec. 26, Chris wrote:
My parents say I can keep playing long-terms and that I'm just banned from blitzes! Which means I can keep playing with Azo and can still be clan leader :)
I only get time to read my mail and update my dailies starting after Christmas break so Clan wars and The tourney are still moving to Alexia's pages...

Beware of a trio of empires entering blitz games pre-alligned. The empires are Swords to Plowshares, Sebia and Libra Planet. There may be a fourth, James something or another.

    Saturday, Dec. 21

SC etiquette has been tackled by Charles Dauphin, who goes by Manetheran. It makes interesting reading, especially for new players.

sc-talk is back!! But a very, very old list was used to bring it back up. Anyone not receiving messages should resubscribe. See bottom right of this page for easy instructions.

Vegetti gets his 300th win. That's tops amongst all players world-wide. Congrats!!

  • Pre-arranged empires, or at least lopsided play, is not restricted to experienced games. Tonight, SZ, Serra Angel and hyning aligned from the get-go in a beginner game. They nuked a player that had left. They then went after a newbie, Stipe with 17 nuked and only his home world, and against one of my pseudo empires.
How is a beginner suppose to learn anything if three empires gang up for a fast nuke? What honor is there in this? Doesn't anyone realize an empire that puts up a hard fought battle can be rewarded with a win? Don't players know it's better to cultivate strong empires as future allies?

This seemed like an appropriate day to update the diary and clean up the SC Room.

First, my provider cut off FTP ability for several weeks. This supposedly was to keep someone from using an encryption program to enter the business's shell account. I can now update my pages but I still haven't found a program that allows me to change the security for my pages using a Mac. I'm aware of MSFTP for IBM users. Of course, such a poor business decision recently led to the laying off of 18 employees.

I've removed Case's Ladder and the accompanying Chat area from the main page due to an apparent lack of interest. If you are still playing on the ladder, let me know and I will return the listing.
Of note, my browser kept bombing at the site recently, a possible reflection of changes to the area plus the use of frames.

Next, I swept away the SC Tournament and the SC League due to a lack of play or interest. People played for a while then lost interest.

Several servers that haven't provided a playing area for Stellar Crisis were removed. They included PressEnter, which still lists the game but it isn't there, and CyberChat, which featured itself and the Vanaheim (where Bird was undefeated!!) and Q Continuum servers.

I removed Admiral Iblis's request for destroying the New Republic! Those wishing more information should contact Admiral Iblis and tell him you're interested in joining Thrawn's Fist, an online Star Wars flight sim club.
