In this game, I was able to take out New Websilon with a BR2 fleet. I suspect he was getting some pressure from up north, which initially was connected to 18,18. I opened the link from New Websilon later in the game. I had the luxury of having both my systems behind me. I also never let New Websilon find my home world, taking out his colonies several times at 17,16. I eventually colonized both 16,16 and 17,16 then did a BR2 overbuild. I could overbuild because I could see his home world, where he was behind on building. He threw four attacks at me, and they did take out a minesweeper. But that is why you always build two of them in a fleet. So one sweep got through and that was all she wrote. As I nuked, my colony at 17,16 became a builder. I terraformed Lefty right away as I overbuilt a nice BR3 fleet to head north to colonize the two systems up north. Father Abbott wanted nothing to do with me. I saw his engineer at 18,18 but underestimated its strength. I sent a BR3 attack to take it out, but it was a full strength engineer with several protective attacks. The link was closed. In the end, the closed link benefited me. I did not have to worry for a few turns about an attack from the north. So, I went to my strength. I built an engineer along with a nice fleet and moved them to New Websilon. I then opened the link to Father Abbot's home world, which I had yet to explore. I think he was kind of surprised when my two science ships landed on his home world. Of course, the gigantic fleet followed for the quick nuke. I headed north, where I encountered ph8, who dismantled and set home world pop to 1. The game was over very fast.
