I used my little known empire Angel On My Shoulder to enter late a blood blitz. I was lucky in that I was able to stop the only sci to come my way, that being from Black Squirrels.
I was even luckier to be able to terraform and pop my systems without too much attention from the other two. I overbuilt a nice fleet and sent it south to Black Squirrels. But he saw it coming and somehow was able to swat it away. But by doing so new Websilon was able to nuke one of Black Squirrels systems, lowering his economy. I overbuilt another fleet, this time with BR3 ships, and charged ahead. I included a science ship so that the fleet could then move west and possibly take out some of New Websilon's systems. Black Squirrels saw my fleet but moved his fleet away to attack New Websilon in a last ditch effort for a nuke. It didn't work, I landed without too much resistance. I quickly found that New Websilon had BR4 ships!! All my overbuilding had put me behind. But his ships were two moves from Black Squirrels' former home world, which I had colonized. I took a chance and did a second pop trick in the game, getting a builder down there and additional economy, too. Better yet, it allowed me to get to BR4. I was able to hold off his attackers. Then I forged ahead, nuking his non-builder system next to Black Squirrels. I also was able to start sending colony ships south from Black Squirrels to get some more ag. New Websilon saw his coming demise and abdicated. He stuck around to hit end turn. He also dismantled the few ships he had left. Very professional of him, and much appreciated. |
